Thought I’d share some highlights having come back from documenting a wonderful weekend working with the organisers at the Nottingham Puppet Festival at the end of June. They have done very well to produce a fascinating two day festival with a variety of puppeteers in many venues across Nottingham , from small scale string puppet displays , to larger scale life-size (and beyond) displays – there was much to see. My images were produced to help the organisers market future festivals , and also serve as documentation for funders – helping preserve and further cement the legacy of the festival – held for the second time after it’s debut in 2018.

This is the first of two articles I have , here’s a link to Sunday’s events

Here’s a great bit of feedback from producer David Longford.

“It was an absolute pleasure to employ Lamar Francois as our official photographer for Nottingham Puppet Festival 2021.  The festival runs all across the city, with a variety of different performances, including talks, workshops and shows, in a range of indoor and outdoor spaces.  We needed to engage a photographer who could meet our exacting brief of documenting the whole festival, being able to work well with our audiences and artists and produce some great images.  Lamar met this in full.  Right from our first introductory meeting, Lamar was able to quickly pick up our requirements.  During the festival itself, as I scurried, as producer, from event to event, it was always comforting to see Lamar quietly working.  The result are excellent festival images from the grandeur of Nottingham Castle to an intimate screening at Broadway Cinema, showing families enjoying the work on offer.”
